What's Great about Longfellow Elementary?

School Start and End Times

  • School Start Time: 7:50 AM

    School Dismissed: 3:15 PM

  • Halloween

Scottsbluff Public Schools and Longfellow are mindful of the current climate around clown sightings and threats on social media.  Elementary Principals are working together to establish guidelines to ensure all students are able to have fun and feel safe this Halloween.

To safeguard students, parents are asked to ensure their children do not wear clown costumes.  We are also asking that students do not come to school wearing their costumes.  They will be given time at the end of the day to change.  Students are asked to not wear make-up or bring weapons to school. Make-up and weapons are accessories students can add in the evening when they are with family and friends.  Longfellow will begin their afternoon festivities at 2:00 on Monday, October 31st.

Scottsbluff Public Schools continues to work together with the community and parents to foster a safe environment for our children.

  • Communication

    • A folder will come home every Wednesday with information from the classroom, the school, and the district.  Please check your child’s backpack every Wednesday and return the folder on Thursday.
    • If your child will not be at school, please contact the office as soon as possible.  We begin making phone calls at 8:45 to families who have not checked in to school regarding their child’s absence.
    • Please contact the school regarding changes in the end of the day routines as soon as possible.  It is important that we are able to keep your child safe at the end of the day.
    • Please notify the office of any changes in address and/or phone numbers so that we are able to contact you with any student needs or concerns.
    • Collaboration is the key to your child’s success at school.  It is always our intention to support your child academically, socially, and emotionally.  Please do not hesitate to contact the school at any time with questions or concerns.

  • Food Allergies

We have students with tree nut allergies in our school.  While we are not a peanut free facility, we request that if you bring snacks to share in the classroom that you refrain from bringing peanut butter.  Please check with your child's teacher regarding specific food needs in the classroom.  We also have students with milk allergies.  Again, refraining from providing foods with milk is requested.  We have made seating accommodations in the cafeteria for students with severe allergies.

  • Parking and Drop Off

Please do not park in the yellow areas along our building.  Students need to be dropped off in the morning along the picnic tables on 21st street.  Students cannot be on the playground until 7:40 a.m.  Students need to use the cross walk areas when crossing the street.
